The Minor Globe of Invulnerability spell creates a magical sphere around the wizard that is impenetrable to 1st-3rd level spells.

Description[]

Minor Globe of Invulnerability
This spell creates an immobile, faintly shimmering magical sphere around the caster that prevents any 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd-level spell effects from penetrating (i.e., the area of effect of any such spells does not include the area of the Minor Globe of Invulnerability). This includes innate abilities and some effects from devices. However, any type of spell can be cast out of the magical sphere, and these pass from the caster of the globe to their subject without affecting the Minor Globe. 4th and higher level spells are not affected by the globe.

Gameplay[]

Like Spell Immunity and Spell Shield, and unlike spells such as Spell Deflection, Spell Turning or Spell Trap, the Globe protects against AoE attacks.

Dispel Magic and Remove Magic are not stopped by the Globe, they simply ignore it. They also don't dispel the Globe itself, but they can still dispel all other effects on the target.

It does not block spells that the casters use on themselves (e.g. Protection From Evil), unless they are marked as hostile or deal damage.

This includes innate abilities and effects from devices. However, any type of spell can be cast out of the magical sphere, and these pass from the caster of the globe to their subject without affecting the globe. Fourth and higher-level spells are not affected by the globe. The globe can be brought down by a successful dispel magic.

Note: The SR version CAN be taken down by a successful dispel magic effect in accordance with the 2nd edition ruleset.
