Baldur's Gate Wiki

Mercenary of Riatavin is a a troupe of two fighters, a Necromancer and a Cleric following the leadership of Captain Dennis. They're found on the 2nd floor of Delosar's Inn, located in the Bridge District as part of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign. When first encountered they are neutral towards Gorion's Ward and party.

Each Mercenary type has its own labelled information box to the right and below (scroll down if needed). As soon as hostilities begin both the Necromancer and the Cleric are scripted to at least launch uninterupptible contingency spell casts off. After that, any other attempted spell casts can be interrupted as normal.

The Fighters will engage in missile attacks until an opponent gets in melee range, then they'll use their greatswords.

If you speak with one of the Fighters they may say, "You should have heard of us around here. We're famous all over Amn."

Converse with the Necromancer and he will remark, "I am the mage of this mercenary troupe... I get paid well, and I'll thank you to leave me be."

Address the Cleric and he'll surmise, "Have you perchance been to the temple of Helm here in Athkatla? It is a fine marvel, I think, truly."

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes the usual adjustments to the fighters, Mage and cleric, by assigning smarter default AI scripts to improve tactical decisions, spell casting, and counter measure behavior. Slight changes to weapon proficiencies and added weapon fighting styles are in place for the fighters and Cleric. Both the Mage and Cleric get mostly different spell choices with revised opening protective buffs. The mage can use a Minor Sequencer with double Ray of Enfeeblement and Spell Sequencer with Minor Spell Deflection, Stoneskin and Spirit Armor if needed, as they are prepared and ready to launch. The Necromancer leans toward Necromancy spells for attack options. SCS random treasures are placed in some creature inventories.
