Mekrath is a powerful wizard who lives below the Athkatla Temple District.

What is this? Intruders within Mekrath's domain? What brings you here, foolish <PRO_MANWOMAN>...? Speak quickly, for I do not suffer errant fools gladly!

Gameplay[]

Speak with the neutral Mekrath in his workshop to initiate certain quest actions. He won't necessarily become hostile if engaged in civil discourse. He is willing to make a deal with the party regarding Haer'Dalis.

If you accept his quest deal, or if the party agrees to leave Mekrath alone - be aware that this mage's script has a timer, and if the party is within his visual range for too long, he gets impatient and becomes hostile. Leave when you are told to and get moving when you have his quest - don't just stand around - get cracking.

Be aware that He starts out with Stoneskin already active. So, a backstabbing attack will likely be absorbed.

Should the party decide to commence hostilities, Mekrath will be able to initiate a chain of force cast buffs initially.

If Mekrath's stoneskins drop to zero, he'll attempt to reapply another Stoneskin and a Mantle.

Mekrath will try and retaliate with a Ruby Ray of Reversal and a Maze if the target has a mage class and if certain HP conditions are met.

All of the spells listed in the InfoBox are scripted for use. Some of these aren't interruptible and are force cast.

If wounded to a certain threshold, he'll quaff his potion of healing.

Side quests[]

Free Haer'Dalis from Imprisonment by Mekrath[]

Raelis Shai, the leader of the performers known as the Sigil Troupe, will ask Gorion's Ward and their party to rescue a member of their cast, Haer'Dalis, from Mekrath's clutches.

If you do not anger him, you can say that you are looking for adventure and he will give you "Mekrath's mirror" quest.

An imp has stolen a magical mirror from Mekrath, and now resides in the southeast section of the sewers, accompanied by a lesser earth elemental, likely summoned by the mirror.

Once dispatched, take the now broken mirror back to Mekrath and you will be rewarded 18,750 XP and his "slave" Haer'Dalis. If you are quick enough you can cast Breach and then kill Mekrath before he teleports away, yielding 14,000 XP when defeated.

Mod content[]

Mods icon This section is about unofficial content that is only available via fan-made mods.

The Sword Coast Stratagems assigns a "Smarter Mages" AI script for better spell casting usage and targeted behavior. As of SCS version 35, Mekrath's Level is raised to a more appropriate experience level (level 12 is too low).

Mekrath has scripted abilities to instantly launch his prepared Minor Sequencer, Spell Sequencer and Spell Trigger.

A new repertoire of memorized spells is provided commensurate with his XP level.

Expect more challenge and staying power if directly fighting the mage with this mod installed.
