Baldur's Gate Wiki

The Mask of King Strohm III is a quest item needed in the side quest Samia's Proposal, who wants the party to find some ancient manuscripts.

Aquisition[]

This mask is not an individual item that is found. In fact, it is formed when six other pieces are collected, and those pieces will reconstitute into the Mask of King Strohm III. In order to attempt to collect these pieces, the player must either take Samia's Key by force or agree to accept Samia's Proposal. The second choice provides better role play, immersion, and experience point reward.

Gameplay[]

The mask is assembled by collecting the six Piece of Burial Mask in Firkraag's Maze. Each piece comes from defeating a Mask guardian. After collecting the sixth piece, the completed mask will appear in the player's inventory. A Piece of Burial Mask is described as:

At first look, this seems to be just a shattered piece of pottery. Closer examination reveals that this is a single piece of King Strohm the Third's burial mask. With all of the pieces, it would be possible to reconstruct the mask. What good this would do, you do not know.

This mask is needed to solve two issues: First it allows the party to open the door to King Strohm's tomb chamber. The Mask acts as a key. Second, it reveals the hidden Final mask guardian.

This mask can be worn by anyone. In the original game, only the PC would have to wear this Mask in order to reveal the Final mask guardian.

By equipping the mask on a helmet slot, the Final mask guardian in the northern room will stop force casting Sunfire and be revealed.

As of BG2EE 2.5, this mask does not provide critical hit protection.

Mask of King Strohm III description[]

This is the reconstructed mask of King Strohm the third. When you place it on your face, the entire world becomes tinted with odd colors. Perhaps this mask will allow you to see something that you hadn't been able to before, but its use beyond that seems questionable.

Each Piece of Burial Mask is assigned individual .ITM names, KEY14.itm, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.
