The Marketplace is located in the center of Central Baldur's Gate and serves as an area where citizens of the city can shop and experience various forms of entertainment. It is also an area of the city where Commoners, Noblemen, and Noblewomen all mingle together.

The area is comprised of market stalls, a couple of rides, and 10 tents. Only the three biggest tents are accessible.

Inside there are multiple gaming tables, regular tables, and what appears to be a small bar. There are four gamesmen and ten male commoners. None of the gamesman or commoners carry any gold. The single lootable table is empty.

Quests[]

Marek and Lothander
Once you have come across Marek and Lothander in the eastern side of Northeast Baldur's Gate, the next time you enter the marketplace area, Lothander can be found standing between the smaller tent located above the first gambling tent and the Diviner's tent. He will immediately approach upon sight and explain his dilemma to you. Helping him will truly save your life as this quest has a ten day limit for its completion once Lothander tells you about the evil Marek has poisoned you with.
