Maharaja the Rakshasa can be encountered during Baldur's Gate II Chapter 7 in Suldanessellar.

Gameplay[]

The raksasha will attempt to pollute the battlefield with a Chain Lightning, Cloudkill, and a Ice Storm. If able, he'll fire off various offensive damage spells as shown in the InfoBox. Remember, the raksasha are immune to spells with a Power level between 1 through 7, and thus he won't be touched by any of the AoE spells he will try.

The unmodified creature's game script will fire off offensive spells at any nearest target, but the script has no idea if the target is protected, or if the spell will bounce back. it also can't remove spell protections or dispel an opponent. It can only attack and has no defensive buffs.

In close quarters combat the creature will conduct melee attacks with his rapid APR longsword ability.

Sword Coast Stratagems mod revises this raksasha. A new "Smarter Mage" AI script is assigned. The maharajah's experience level is raised to 17.

A new battery of memorized arcane spells are scripted for use. The creature will be able to launch a chain of protective buffs at the outset of hostilities, to include: Mirror Image, Improved Haste, Spell Deflection, Shield (spell), Stoneskin, Non-Detection, and Protection From Magical Weapons.

A set of prepared Minor Sequencer, Spell Sequencer and Spell Trigger are scripted for instant deployment.

A scripted potion is assigned for healing purposes.

With the Spell Revisions mod the creature's spell versions will be the SR variety. Expect being unable to break the mage's invisibility and illusions due to SR's Non-Detection. Peel away the protective layers first.
