| “ | Magic Missile Use of the Magic Missile spell, one of the most popular 1st-level spells, creates up to five missiles of magical energy that dart forth from the wizard's fingertip and unerringly strike their target, which must be a creature of some sort. Each missile inflicts 1d4+1 points of damage. For every 2 extra levels of experience, the wizard gains an additional missile — 2 at 3rd level, 3 at 5th level, 4 at 7th level, up to a total of 5 at 9th level. |

Gameplay[]
The caster selects a single creature to target the magic missile to, using the targeting cursor.
When the spell casting is finished one or more projectiles dart forth and fly unerringly to the target.
The victim is struck by 1 to 5 missiles, as determined by the caster's mage level, and each missile inflicts 1d4+1 Magical damage.
This spell can be blocked by Magic resistance, any Spell protections type such as Minor Spell Deflection or Minor Globe of Invulnerability.
A Minor Spell Turning will bounce the missiles back to the caster.
A creature protected with a Shield (spell) will be immune.
Additionally, Spell Immunity: Evocation will negate the spell, as will the Cloak of Mirroring.
A creature protected by Mirror Image will potentially fool the missiles, and one good use of the spell is to rapidly destroy a number of images using this spell, especially when cast at the 9th level.
As the spell is quickly cast, this spell remains useful throughout the saga for its ability to disrupt targets in the midst of spell casting or apply damage rapidly.

The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Wizard spell Magic Missile can target more than one creature when the wizard has multiple missiles. The Wizard's Compendium alternative rules allow up to nine magic missiles for a 17th level Wizard.
