Madulf wants to make a deal with the village is a side quest that can be started in the Umar Hills during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign.
Locating Madulf[]
Just north of the village of Imnesvale, you can find the ogre leader Madulf (3290.720
) and his allies, another ogre, a minotaur, a gnoll, and an orc. He automatically talks to Gorion's Ward when approached. It seems all of them defected from a monstrous legion in the Sythsillian Empire, south of Amn. Madulf and his followers have nothing to do with the attacks on the village, and in fact his band are being killed as well, and but he doesn't know who or what is responsible.
Options[]
The player has three options for dealing with Madul and his followers:
- Kill them
- Ignore their request for alliance with village
- Tell Minister Lloyd about Madulf's proposal to protect the village and trade goods in exchange for living here without villagers informing the authorities. This is the most rewarding of the three routes, as speaking to Minister Lloyd rewards the party with 27,500 XP. After speaking to Minister Lloyd, he will vanish for a few hours, and then return and declare that he has spoken to Madulf and agreed to the ogre's terms. At this point, the player can speak to Madulf again to mark the quest as complete and receive the Shield of the Lost. Madulf will also tell you what he witnessed at the Ranger Cabin concerning the murders.
- If you tell Minister Lloyd about the alliance after completing Investigate the Deaths in the Umar Hills, you will only be rewarded with 25,000 XP.
