Madele is the last Priestess of Bhaal to remain in the Ruined Temple of Bhaal near Boareskyr Bridge after its conquest by the Cult of Cyric. Her eyes gouged out years ago by Cyric's High Priestess Akanna, she has gone quite mad, held captive and mocked by the faithful of the god that usurped her former master.

Interactions[]

When the party enters the Ruined Temple of Bhaal, they will encounter Madele held captive in a cage in the main room of the temple, near the sacrifice disposal pit. If spoken to, she will provide some clues about the history of the ruined temple - regarding the stolen children and the temple's demise.

After the party slays Ziatar and retrieves her Jail Key, they can choose to either leave Madele to her fate, free her and turn her loose, or free her whilst giving her instructions by invoking the player's status as a Bhaalspawn - either to seek repentance, or to continue slaying in the name of Bhaal. She can also be killed after freeing her, without reputation loss. But if the party sets her free at this point, they miss the following interaction.

If the party doesn't free her until after killing the mind flayer Darskhelin, then upon killing him the journal will update and finish the Eyeless Priestess quest. When Madele is spoken to aferwards, one of the options is to tell her: "I found the mind flayer who had taken over the temple. It was your mind that allowed him access." To which she responds: "She thought I was POWERLESS. She thought the Lord of Murder had abandoned me. But I told it everything, EVERYTHING. I know each voice here, each step, each slamming door, I told it that SHE was the one to control. And now she's gone... gone forever! And the temple of the betrayer falls." (Note, however, that Akanna, to whom she refers, may still be living up to that point, and she might even never die "to our knowledge") Then the party can continue with the interactions explained in the previous paragraph.

Achievements[]

The interactions detailed in the 2nd paragraph of the above section are amongst the "Hero/Villain" interactions in the game, which are used to unlock the achievements of "It Wasn't Me!", "I Don't Care". Additionally, freeing Madele and telling her to seek redemption will unlock the achievement "Amendments", whilst telling her to resume her murderous devotions to Bhaal will unlock the achievement "In the Name of the Father".
