Lord Ketlaar Argrim is an anti-magic fanatic who wants to banish all mages and magic-use from Athkatla during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign. He is only encountered during the Mage Stronghold quest.

Sune's Patience, not another one!

— Lord Ketlaar Argrim

As part of the finale of the Mage Stronghold quest, Teos has the protagonist track down Lord Argrim at the Crooked Crane Inn at the City Gate. He is upstairs with two Men-at-Arms and two Archers.

No matter what dialog choice is made, he turns hostile and attacks.

"Magical abominations! I recognize your forms and smell your treachery! I will kill you and remove your taint, and use your corpses as evidence to banish the Cowled Wizards! Your vile tongue can spew what it likes, I am deaf to those such as you. Vile Abominations! Fall!"

Whether Argrim is killed or imprisoned, he is still only worth 1,975 XP, and the party can return to Teos for another 7,500 XP, although he will berate Gorion's Ward if Argrim was killed.

  • In dialog and tool tips, his name is "Lord Ketlaar Argrim" although the Journal entry for Mage Stronghold: Free at last only uses one "a" in "Ketlar."
