Know Alignment is a 2nd level priest spell. It allows the priest to determine a creature's alignment.

It is almost identical to its 2nd level wizard counterpart, but has a slightly shorter range and applies a save penalty (see Bugs below).

Description[]

A Know Alignment spell enables the Priest to exactly read the aura of a creature. If the creature rolls a successful Saving Throw vs. Spell, the caster learns nothing about that particular creature from the casting. When a character is hit by this spell, it will glow red if evil, green if good, and white if neutral. Certain magical devices negate the power of the Know Alignment spell.

Gameplay[]

  • This spell does not detect whether a creature is lawful or chaotic.
  • In addition to the colored glow effect, the creatures morality (good, neutral, or evil) will be listed in the infobox if the spell succeeds.

Bugs[]

  • The range of this spell is listed as 30 ft. in-game; it is actually 20 ft.
  • This spell has a save penalty of -2 that is not listed in the description.

Spell Revisions mod has removed the divine "Know Alignment" spell, and replaced it with the following new spell:

Know Opponent
Level: 2
School: Divination
Sphere: Divination
Range: Long
Duration: 2 turns
Casting Time: 1 round
Area of Effect: 1 creature
Saving Throw: None

When this spell is cast, the caster’s eyes glow with magical energy, enabling him to read the aura of a creature, and determine the creature’s strengths and weaknesses. For the duration of the spell, the target’s physical resistances are lowered by 10% and all attacks against the target creature are made with a +2 bonus to the attack roll. Certain magical devices negate the power of the Know Opponent spell, and the spell has no effect on creatures who don’t emanate auras, such as constructs. Magic resistance does not affect this spell.

Note: This spell is usable by all Divine spell caster classes.
