The order of the Knights of the Vigil is a small sect tasked by Helm in the Time of Troubles to safeguard and defend against a great evil.

In terms of the order's applicability to the game sage, there are six Knights of the Vigil encountered as a group in the Watcher's Keep area map.

These knights are Odren their current leader, Sister Garlena the quartermaster, Brother Pol the Elder and three unnamed Vigil Knight members (two female and one male).

The player will need to initiate dialogue with Odren to properly begin the optional Watcher's Keep quest and dungeon adventure.

The Knights of the Vigil have sent out a call throughout the lands for those capable of entering Watcher's Keep, an ancient fortress temple holding a great evil imprisoned there by the god Helm. It is under these conditions that Gorion's Ward will discover their plight and call for assistance.

The player will have to decide to accept the call, or not.

The party approaches the Knights of the Vigil at the base of Watcher's Keep.

The game script sees that the PC is below 10th level experience. Garlena asks Odren if the PC can handle this quest.

Odren advises that the PC might be advised to come back later when more experienced before undertaking the quest. This is the game trying to save the player from doing something prematurely and could be a rash move.

Odren - "Please accept my apology, <CHARNAME>. Watcher's Keep is a long journey from any nearby settlement, and your trip could not have been an easy one."

Brother Pol - "When Helm came to us, he asked half of our order to sacrifice themselves... to become spirits guarding the keep and adding to the ancient seals that were already in existence."

Sister Garlena - "You may have access both to our healing skills and supplies as well as whatever equipment we have in store, <GABBER>. Come... I will show you what we have available in our stores."
