Implosion is a High-level class ability usable by Cleric, Druid and Shaman divine casters.
Description[]
“ | Implosion (Evocation) This spell creates a rift in the earth beneath the target which implodes and closes in upon itself, crushing and burning the target and holding it for 1 round. The spell does 10d10 fire damage and 10d10 blunt damage. The victim can save vs. Spell for half. |

Gameplay[]
All spell effects ignore Magic resistance.
Because the spell has no school, Spell Immunity is not effective and Specialist Mage to Cleric dual classes will not enjoy saving throw modifications.
The only enemies who will cast this spell against the party are Sendai (the original, not her clones) and Demogorgon.
This spell can be particularly deadly due to its magic resistance-bypassing, no saving throw, and 1 round Hold Creature effect using Opcode 175 (which is not addressed in the spell description).
The spell's internal effects are Power level 7. As such, they can be mitigated via any kind single-target spell protection that has a capacity to protect against that power level, for example Spell Deflection, Shield of the Archons or Spell Turning.
A Stoneskin (1-skin) is enough to defend against the crushing damage.

Mod Content[]

Spell Revisions mod has changed this Divine HLA spell, revising its school, effects, casting time, saving throw and description:
Implosion
Level: Quest
School: Alteration
Sphere: Combat, Numbers
Range: Long
Duration: 1 round
Casting Time: 7
Area of Effect: 1 creature
Saving Throw: Death partial
This fearsome spell creates a destructive resonance in a corporeal creature’s body, causing it to collapse in on itself, crushing it to death. The spell does 20d8 points of crushing damage, and holds the target for 1 round. The victim can save vs. death at a -6 penalty to halve the damage.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod's AI will typically recognize if a targeted creature is immune to crushing damage or has an active Stoneskin protection. If so, the caster may use a different attack/spell instead, or choose another target.
