| “ | It has already been decided, <CHARNAME>. I am Illasera the Quick, child of Bhaal, and I have been chosen to perform this deed. You cannot resist us. | ” |
This article page is to document the changed/revised vital statistics and particulars for Illasera the Quick when the player has installed the latest versions of the Ascension and Sword Coast Stratagems mods.
Illasera makes two appearances with Ascension - in Chapter 8's start, and again at a certain stage of conflict in Chapter 10 (FINILLA.cre), there are some differences between the two creatures in terms of AI scripts, abilities, and items equipped.
Gameplay[]
In chapter 8 a cutscene will take place and Illasera and any accompanying Black Reavers will move nearby the party - Illasera initiates dialogue, the Ward is allowed to make a few replies then a battle to the death begins.
Illasera is configured as a hybrid kind of Ranger class bhaalspawn.
She is optimized for archery combat, and she hunts down Gorion's Ward and PCs that flee across the map, chasing them relentlessly - since she can See the invisible, there is no easy way to hide from her for long.
Illasera has a pretty smart tactical AI that evaluates many factors, including what type of class target she detects, if they are summoned, a celestial, and if they are under some kind of state, such as being helpless, held etc. She also is aware if a potential target is protected by various buffs, such Protection from Magical Weapons, Protection from Normal Missiles, has the Reflection Shield Equipped, or under a Physical Mirror spell.
Illasera has three short bows in her readied weapon slots that are selected/swapped back and forth depending a myriad of factors based on the situation and the target's defenses/vulnerabilities. The bows create their own ammunition, which are treated as +5 enchanted items for the purposes of what they can strike, and each bow provides the same THAC0 bonuses and base missile damage - note that the projectile arrow launched by the bows is one of the standard ones that can be blocked by the Reflection Shield and the Physical Mirror spell.
Each successful hit by each bow type applies a different individual spell effect (which can't be blocked), and they can cause some nasty effects. For instance:
- Shortbow FINIL01.spl: Arrow strike is similar to the Dispel Effect you get from Carsomyr, and a 3-round duration 40% Miscast Magic effect to arcane and divine spell casting. Will also kill summoned creatures and illusory clones. A five round duration 5% cumulative magic resistance penalty is also applied.
- Shortbow FINIL02.spl: Arrow strike deals +10 Magical damage, and target must save vs. Polymorph with a -4 penalty or suffer a Stun for 2 rounds and Slow effect for 4 rounds. Will negate any Haste effect on the target as well.
- Shortbow FINIL03.spl: Arrow strike deals an additional 2d10 Magical damage. A save versus Death with a -4 penalty halves the magic damage and negates a -1 THAC0 penalty lasting 5 rounds, a Wing buffet knockback and temporary Unconscious effect lasting a few seconds.
Somewhere in Illasera's creature file design is a hidden mod-only archer-style kit effect going on (the wiki wasn't able to dig into it successfully) - this kit's extra bonuses to arrow damage are definitely happening on successful hits from her bow, and testing indicated missile damage boosting/extra damage that routinely causes 60+ physical damage per hit. With her rapid APR, this will tear down even the toughest character the party may have if they aren't protected from being struck - and Armor Class alone won't be a factor, she can hit extremely impressive AC ratings routinely (see InfoBox).
Illasera has one unique ability just for her, titled Ethereal - see the link for particulars. In short, this ability can be applied by Illasera and triggered by certain battle events and conditions, the player's SCS game difficulty slider affects how often it is used and how quickly it is reapplied. In short, when she's ethereal the following occurs:
- She's under a state of Improved Invisibility for 3 rounds.
- She's 50% resistant to all damage types for 3 rounds.
- Bumps PCs out of the way for one round.
- Immunity to normal weapons for 3 rounds and all +1 - +5 enchanted weapons for 1-round.
- Immunity to spells and effects from the Abjuration, Conjuration, Enchantment, Evocation and Wild Magic spell schools for 1 round.
This ability cannot be dispelled, and has no secondary type, so it cannot be breached or removed by a Magic attack type spell remover.
Illasera has six potions of Superior Healing which are imbibed when she has reached certain damage thresholds, especially while Ethereal - giving her extra staying power.
High-level class ability powers are also known and scripted for use by Illasera in chapter 8, and additional ones when encountered in The Throne of Bhaal area in Chapter 10.
