Ilbratha is an enchanted short sword +1. The weapon inflicts 1d6+1 points of piercing damage, it has -1 bonus to THAC0. The weapon has a speed factor of 2 and a weight of 2 lbs. The sword can be used once per day to cast the spell Mirror Image.

Location[]

Description[]

This ancient bronze sword is set with six matching bloodstones, and was apparently forged for Azoun the First, a long dead king of Cormyr. It saw little use, and eventually found its way to a favored of the king's guards. Despite the aid of its illusionary magic, that unnamed soldier fell in a later battle, and the sword was lost to brigands or scavengers.

Gameplay[]

  • The Mirror Image ability creates 5 images, equivalent to a level 9 arcane caster, with a duration of 10 rounds. Can be dispelled. Has a range of 1 foot and can be applied to 1 creature in range.

Bugs[]

Unlike the arcane spell cast version of Mirror Image, the Ilbratha applied Mirror Images are coded differently. The practical result of this is that the ability, which can be applied to any creature in range (1 foot), does not bypass Magic resistance. This means that the target of the images might not gain any benefit if its magic resistance blocks it. This is still the case in BG2EE 2.6.6 and is clearly a bug.

This is identified and corrected in The Enhanced Edition Fixpack (EEFP). Ref: (sw1h26.itm)
