| “ | I am made to suffer. My pain brings me closer to the Crying God.[2] | ” |
Hyreth is a soldier in the grand coalition army who seeks to fight the Shining Crusade of Caelar Argent in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear. A devout worshipper of Ilmater, Hyreth's religious zeal can sometimes overwhelm his common sense.
Biography[]
Involvement[]
Hyreth can be encountered in the triage camp area in the southwest of the Coalition Camp in Chapter Ten – Allied Siege Camp.
Note: If Glint, Jaheira or Viconia are in the party when talking with him, additional options become available. This is also the case if Gorion's Ward is a blackguard or a half-orc. Several checks on strength, intelligence, wisdom and charisma are made, with 15 or 16 needed to pass.
He has recently been injured quite severely, but is refusing to allow himself to be treated because he feels it brings him closer to his patron god. Talking to him reveals this backstory, and begins the side quest The Wounded Zealot.
The Wounded Zealot[]
Healing Hyreth against his will yields experience but costs one point of reputation. He will leave then.[3]
| “ | Healing me against my own wishes—! You have committed a grievous sin [today]. I'll not forgive this blasphemy. When I'm finished, everyone in this camp will know of your contempt for people of faith.[4] | ” |
Notes[]
- Hyreth may have the same appearance as any beggar or miner in the Baldur's Gate series – however, the animation used is exclusive to him.[1]
