Baldur's Gate Wiki

House Jae'llat is a residence in Ust Natha and home to Hindra Jae'llat, Rilloa Jae'llat and Ist'tar Jae'llat. This building requires the Jae'llat Wardstone to enter, obtained from the Intrigue with Jarlaxle questline only.

Who are these intruders? How did they get past the wards?! Bah! They must be assassins... let us deal with them!

— Hindra Jae'llat

Gameplay[]

If the party has possession of the Jae'llat Wardstone, they may enter this area. An interesting battle awaits within - made more difficult by the defenders' innate drow magic resistance.

The entire place will go hostile and attempt to repel or kill you, the invaders. The first group will quickly spring into action as the party first transitions inside.

Further within if you take an easterly path, are some other family members of House Jae'llat and more guards on the lower platforms.

In general, the battle will take place with two groups of defenders. Rilloa commands the first group upon entry to the House, while Hindra and Ist'tar are in the second.

Installation of the Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes a few changes to all of the creatures. Additionally, if the "Improved Drow" component is installed, there will be additional guards added to the original existing ones, by initiating the "DMWWJaellatReinforce","GLOBAL",1 script. The script will place (in various locations) additional defenders, including:

  • Valas Jae'llat (dw#jadr1): Male Level 14 Necromancer, 14,000 XP. Has prepared Minor Sequencer and Spell Sequencer. Some random treasure in inventory.
  • Jae'llat Mage (dw#jadr3) (×5): Male level 12/12 Fighter/Mage, 10,000 XP. Has prepared minor sequencer and SCS random treasure. SCS made an error here and assigned a "human" race to these creatures, although it has a drow animation. Even SCS makes mistakes.
  • Jae'llat Priestess (dw#jadr2) (×12): Female Level 10/9 Fighter/Cleric, 10,000 XP. Wears Drow Elven Chain +3 and wields the SCS "Flail-whip" weapon. Has random treasures in inventory.

All these spell casters will perform more intelligently if you have installed the "Smarter Mages" and or Cleric components.

In the unmodified game, the party will likely have two distinct battle phases between the two groups of defenders. With SCS's "Better calls for help" component, Hindra and her bodyguards will move to the entry platform and try and overcome the party with numbers.

If the Spell Revisions Mod is installed, the drow's memorized spells will be the SR versions.

If you have installed the Golem Construction for Spellcasters Mod, then a unique "Perfect Clay Golem" is placed in the Jae'llat House to help defend it. This creature is loyal to the drow, and is a bit tougher than a usual Clay Golem. Works with other Mods as well, including SCS.
