Baldur's Gate Wiki

Hendak is a proud warrior from the North until his capture by slavers during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign. He's currently locked up in a cell in the rear of the tavern's restricted area. Apparently he's forced to fight in the Copper Coronet in the fighting pit on a routine basis.

A moment, friend. You are obviously not aligned with our captors. Might I know your name?

Gameplay[]

He has been imprisoned longer than any of the other men and survived, though only barely, while trying to aid the other slaves in pit-battles for the amusement of noblemen as best he could.

He is found among the slave cells inside the Copper Coronet, owned by Lehtinan (whom he refers to as a fiend).

He requests help from the protagonist's party to free the slaves in the side quest, Free Hendak and the slaves. A party member need only get nearby his cell to have him initiate dialogue.

In the southeastern corner of the Copper Coronet you will find the Beastmaster whom you must kill to obtain the Beastmaster Key that unlocks the slave cell doors.

Freeing Hendak will initiate he and the other gladiators to advance through the Tavern, attacking the guards. Eventually Hendak will confront and kill Lehtinan, taking over the Copper Coronet for himself.

After the take-over, he will request further aid in ridding the city of slavers. If the party accepts and puts the slavers out of business, return to Hendak (he'll know if you did it) for a reward, and a nice discount in Bernard's shop (plus a slew of fantastic items for sale - especially for a beginning party in the Shadow's of Amn campaign).
