Gurgle and Floss refers to both a pair of NPCs in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear and to a side quest associated with those NPCs.

The NPCs[]

Gurgle and his companion Floss are a pair of sahuagin who can be encountered in the Underground River area, in a small chamber north of the Shining Crusade camp at the cavern entrance and just over the river that divides the cavern into its northern and southern halves. The rather dimwitted pair have made a nuisance of themselves by barricading their chamber and threatening any passers-by, which the Crusaders in the supply camp at the cavern's entrance have used as an excuse to stop their work.

The Quest[]

In addition to Ladle asking Gorion's Ward to do something about the sahuagin, Gurgle and Floss will automatically challenge the player when they attempt to move through their "territory" in order to reach the Dragonspear Castle Basement needed to progress this chapter. As such, dealing with them is mandatory.

There are several options for gaining passage.

Firstly, the player can simply fight the two. They are standard sahuagin warriors and worth 2,000 EXP each.

Secondly, the player can trick them into leaving, whereupon they will be shot down by the crusader archers waiting outside; this gives no rewards.

Thirdly, the player can intimidate them into allowing passage, which is worth 5,000 EXP.

Finally, the player can answer their demands for a story. There are several suboptions here:

  • Telling them the unfinished story of Caelar Argent will earn the party 1,000 EXP.
  • Telling them the abridged story of the Bhaalspawn known as Gorion's' Ward will also earn the party 1,000 EXP.
  • Telling them the complete story of the Bhaalspawn known as Gorion's' Ward will present the player with the choice to threaten them (Strength greater than 13 or Charisma less than 10) as they end the story for 7,500 EXP. If they do not threaten the sahuagin, Gurgle & Floss will reward the party with the Wand of Water Elemental Summoning and no EXP.

Regardless of which story is chosen, the party will be granted the right to freely move through the sahuagin's chamber as they wish.
