Thy audacity is impressive, Gorion's Ward. It does thee little good, for my mistress has ordained a baptism of blood and pain for thee.

This vampire guard will shortly greet Gorion's Ward before turning hostile while the party's looking for a solution to regain Imoen's soul in the lower tombs of the Athkatla Graveyard. This Guardian vampire is part of Bodhi's Vampire Coven and found only in Chapter Six.

This vampire is down the corridor that leads to the "Room of Blood and Blades" (it doesn't have a map name or its own Area number in the game files).

The guard is similar to a Fledgling Vampire in durability, but is assigned a level 14 Mage script, and essentially functions as a spell caster. The vampire can be struck with normal weapons, and its melee attack can drain 3 experience levels. The creature will open hostilities with a protective buff contingency, and periodically reapply others as scripted. Offensive spell casts will be attempted, if able, as long as the vampire can identify a target, and complete a spell cast. Examples include Power Word, Stun, Death Spell, Greater Malison, Chaos and others.

The vampire guard is now a level 14/14 Fighter/Mage class, 165 HP, STR 22, DEX 21, CON 20. He has 4 attacks per round, THAC0 0 and -4 Armor Class. His melee strike drains 3 experience levels or 3 CON. The creature utilizes a default SCS "Smarter Mage" script rather than the "Improved Vampire" one. As such, the guard will behave as a spell caster, but still be able to fight in melee as a vampire effectively as well. At least +3 or better enchanted weapons are needed to strike the vampire, and it regenerates at 1 HP/second.

Upon initial hostilities, the vampire will self-buff (Cast Previously) with uninterruptible instant cast spells such as Shadow Door, Protection From Magical Weapons, Stoneskin, and Minor Globe of Invulnerability. The creature has a mostly different set of memorized spells, and all of them are scripted for use as determined by opponent threat assessments, their protections, and what spells are still available as the vampire uses them up. The creature can cast Remove Magic. Pierce Magic and Breach to take down the party's protections and has a number of offensive damage dealing spells as well as disabling type as well. If the vampire cannot find a spell applicable to the target, it can engage in melee attack.
