Green Dragon Breath is an innate ability available to green dragons in the game saga, such as the Dragon (Watchers Keep Final Seal). This innate ability is initiated via internal creature scripting during combat.

The purpose of the spell is to apply Poison damage to a single creature as well as an Area of Effect around the target.

Effects[]

The ability is uninterruptible and takes almost no time to deploy. The scripted targeting will fire over a single target creature, which is typically within the creature's sight detection range. All creatures in the area of effect are subject to the effects. This breath weapon is a projectile that will burst (similar to a Fireball) and spread in a ring of greenish colored poison toxicity.

When a dragon deploys a Green Dragon Breath, a blast explodes upon the target and creatures within the AoE who are then subjected to 24d6 Poison damage.

A quick reaction Saving throw vs Breath Attack will apply, and a successful save will reduce the damage by half. Perhaps the victim was able to dive aside, roll away from the burst, or raise a shield up to deflect some of the poison spray and mist.

When a party member is affected by the poison, their portrait will briefly display an icon (No. 6) "Poisoned", lasting only 2 seconds.

Gameplay[]

  • Any form of poison protection and or resistance will help against the powerful blast. No magic resistance or spell protections such as Globe of Invulnerability can stop the dragon poison.
  • As this poison blast ability has an area of effect, a Reflected Image or Mirror Image illusion won't interact with the spell and offers no protection/decoy capability.
  • The breath attack is coded as an "Offensive damage" type, thus the Cloak of Mirroring will block it.

Mod content[]

The Sword Coast Stratagems and Spell Revisions mods have removed the "secondary type" classification of "Offensive damage" and made it "None". This means that the Cloak of Mirroring won't interact with it.
