Gnoll Elites are slightly more powerful variants of the common Gnoll.
Description[]
They're distinguishable from their brethren by way of their shiny pauldrons and light skin-tone.
Gameplay[]
They attack with Halberds that deal 1d10 damage, which, as both a spear and a blade can deliver either slashing or piercing damage. Besides their weapon, they carry random treasure.
Summons[]
Gnoll Elites can be summoned by the 4th level Wizard spell Monster Summoning II.
Summoned elites have twice the hit die, 30 hit points, higher Strength, Dexterity and Constitution (but lower Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma), and a slightly better armor class. Having Mastery of the Spear, they attack twice per round with a better THAC0 and do extra damage from Strength and Proficiency. In addition to halberds, they also wear a helmet to protect against critical hits, but carry no random treasure.
In virtually all other ways, they are the same as non-summoned elites.
