Baldur's Gate Wiki

Ghorak is afflicted by an unnamed, flesh-eating disease which gives him the appearance of a zombie (whether he actually is a zombie or not is unclear.) Many years ago he was cursed by the goddess Tymora for the brutal slaying of his brother Kereph. Perhaps there is a way to lift his curse.

This quest is given by Ghorak who can be found in his house in the district of South Baldur's Gate. When spoken to he will warn the party away, shouting that he is diseased. If the party offers to cure him, he will tell them that there is no cure. Then he will ask the player to find his brother's skull and take it to The Lady's Hall if they really want to help.

If the party states that they cannot help him, he will exit the house and disappear forever.

Finding and Returning the Skull[]

Ghorak the Diseased 2

The Skull of Kereph is in the Three Old Kegs tavern in North Baldur's Gate, hidden behind a painting on the second floor. Once the party has the skull, they must take it to the The Lady's Hall in West Baldur's Gate and give it to Agnasia, a priestess of Tymora.

Note: West Baldur's Gate must be entered from the Sewers, Central Baldur's Gate, or Northwest Baldur's Gate. From any other direction you land outside of the wall.

When the party gives the skull to Agnasia she expresses surprise at seeing it and will explain Ghorak's full story. It turns out his brother Kereph was a priest of Tymora and had so much good fortune in his life that "people" became jealous and murdered him. His body was torn apart and his head was cut off and taken so that it could not be buried with him. Agnasia then thanks the party for returning it and rewards them, and advises that they return to Ghorak as she believes the curse will now be lifted.

Completion[]

When the player returns to Ghorak and tells him that his brother's skull has been returned to the The Lady's Hall, his curse is lifted. He gives the player his thanks but nothing else. The only rewards for this quest are 1000 XP and a one point reputation increase, which have been already given by Agnasia.

I— I am cured. After all these long years of rotting away, an end has come. Blessed be Tymora and may my brother at last have peace. You are kinder than you'll ever know.
