Baldur's Gate Wiki

The city of Baldur's Gate contains four generic Tavern and Inn buildings which do not serve much purpose in the overall story but do provide additional places to find rest and booze. The purpose of this page is to provide information for all four of these buildings in one place and thereby eliminate the need for separate pages.

All of these buildings have a standard layout of two floors with a bartender on the ground floor and multiple commoners and townsfolk found throughout both floors. Two have bartenders and gaming tables on the second floor while the other two have rooms. All provide rooms ranging from Peasant to Royal and serve the same six kinds of drinks.

The two establishments with rooms on the second floor all contain lootable chests, some of which are locked, although not all containers have loot in them. All locks have a difficulty class of 30 for a thief to be able to open them. The bartenders all carry gold but are virtually impossible to pickpocket. The commoners and gamesman carry no gold.

Three out of the four taverns also have named NPCs inside although none of them are crucial to the story plot. Speaking with the townsfolk will provide some limited information about current events but nothing of critical importance.

Note: The name at the top of both the text and infoboxes is the name found on the area map. The other name is the one used by the game developers.

Tavern and Inn  (AR0165/AR0166)[]

Characters[]

  • Connoly Finn can be found on the ground floor and will immediately approach the party upon sight. Most of what he talks about is of little importance.
  • Borinole Mann can be found on the second floor. He will tell a tale about a trip he and two comrades made to the ruins of Firewine Bridge.

Tavern and Inn  (AR0807/AR0808)[]

This Tavern and Inn is located against the eastern wall next to the Shop of Silence in East Baldur's Gate.

Both floors have a bartender and three townsfolk. There are no lootable containers within this building and no named NPCs.

Note: There are gambling tables on the second floor but no Gamesman is present.

Characters[]

  • The paladin Phandalyn can be found on the ground floor between the hours of 4:30 am to 8:30 pm. He will immediately confront the party upon sight. If the party has any evil members, he will attack. Killing him decreases the party's Reputation; the loss scales with the party's current reputation.
