All of the generic homes, along with quite a few homes listed by owner name, that are found in Baldur's Gate have a ground floor that is comprised of one of twelve different floor plans. Seven different styles are found in single-story homes and five different styles are found in two-story homes. The two-story homes also have five different styles of floor plans for the second floor.

Listed below are all seventeen different floor plans with a description of the layout and locations of the buildings where the floor plan is found. All of the ground floor floor plans have, at a minimum, a fireplace, a food preparation area, and some semblance of a living area (except for floor plan 5).


Ground Floor (Two-Story)[]

Interior Floor Plan 1[]

Interior Floor Plan 1 is comprised of a single main room. Two central pillars act to divide the room into a living area and a kitchen/dining area. The stairs are located opposite the front door and are centered against the rear wall. Lootable containers consist of a chest and two bookshelves.


Interior Floor Plan 2[]

Interior Floor Plan 2 is comprised of two rooms. A wall divides the floor into a living room and a kitchen. The stairs are located opposite the front door and are centered perpendicular to the rear wall. Lootable containers consist of a armoire and two chest of drawers.


Interior Floor Plan 3[]

Interior Floor Plan 3 is comprised of a single main room. Two sets of partial walls act to divide the room into a kitchen/dining area, a living area, and storage/staircase area with the stairs situated against the wall. The only lootable container is a chest.


Interior Floor Plan 4[]

Interior Floor Plan 4 is comprised of three separate rooms. Two central walls act to divide the floor into a living room, a foyer, and a kitchen/dining room. The stairs are located opposite the front door and are centered perpendicular to the rear wall. Lootable containers consist of a barrel and and occasionally a shelf, both located in the kitchen.


Interior Floor Plan 5[]

Interior Floor Plan 5 is comprised of a large main room with matching libraries and leisure/reading rooms located on either side. The main room is broken up by five columns that create a foyer/reception area at the front door. A pair of tables and chairs flank the broad stairway which is set perpendicular to the back wall. The rectangular-shaped libraries contain bookshelves along both of the longer walls, reading tables in the center of the room, and a display case set towards the back wall. In the leisure/reading rooms, the right side room contains a couch, an oversized stuffed chair, and a chess set and the left side room contains an oversized stuffed chair, a regular chair, a table, and a display case. Both rooms also have bookshelves on the wall shared with the library rooms.

Lootable containers consist of three bookshelves, two display cases, and a table in the Counting House and the generic home in Southwest Baldur's Gate. The generic home in South Baldur's Gate only has two bookshelves and the two display cases as lootable containers.

Ground Floor (One-Story)[]

Interior Floor Plan 6[]

Interior Floor Plan 6 is comprised of four separate rooms. The biggest room is the formal dining room which is divide into two halves by a trio of evenly-spaced columns and four archways. The right half contains a large circular table with six chairs. The left half contains a large rectangular table with ten chairs. Both tables are centered relative to their respective locations and the front door opens into the left half of the room.

Note: Both of these areas serve as the primary location for meeting named NPCs and are the areas where the majority of potentially summoned individuals and/or enemies may appear.

Located off the left side of the formal dining room is a doorway that opens to the kitchen and a long hallway that leads to the master bedroom and a smaller bedroom. The small bedroom and kitchen are also connected with a doorway. There are no stairs.

Lootable containers consist of a barrel in the kitchen, a nightstand in the small bedroom, and a armoire in the master bedroom.

Interior Floor Plan 7[]

Interior Floor Plan 7 is comprised of a single floor separated by a wall into two rooms. The bigger room acts as a great room and is comprised of a dining table, reading table, and a double bed. The smaller room is accessed through an arched doorway that opens to a kitchen and bathing area. Lootable containers consist of a chest at the foot of the bed and and a chest of drawers against the wall, both of which are located in the great room.

Interior Floor Plan 8[]

Interior Floor Plan 8 is comprised of a single "L-shaped" main room. The room contains a dining table, a bench in front of the fireplace, a kitchen area in the back rear corner (kitty corner from the front door), and a double bed around the corner from the front door. Lootable containers consist of two chests.

Interior Floor Plan 9[]

Interior Floor Plan 9 is comprised of two seperate rooms. A full length wall acts to divide the room into a great room and a bedroom. A arched doorway, located to the left of the front door, allows for passage between the rooms. The great room is comprised of a rectangular dining table and four chairs along with a food preparation area located in the back left corner of the room. The bedroom is comprised of two single beds. The bedroom also contains the only lootable containers which consist of two chests and a chest of drawers.

Interior Floor Plan 10[]

Interior Floor Plan 10 is comprised of two seperate rooms. A full length wall acts to divide the room into a great room and a bedroom. A doorway, located at the far end of the wall from the front door, allows for passage between the rooms. The great room is comprised of a rectangular dining table and two benches along with a food preparation area located along the back wall of the room. Two smaller tables are also found within the room. The bedroom is comprised of two double beds and a bathing area. The bedroom also contains the only lootable container which consist of a single chest.

Interior Floor Plan 11[]

Interior Floor Plan 11 is comprised of a single main room. A single bed and a bunk bed occupy both corners of the left side of the room. A rectangular table, in what looks to serve as a food preparation place, is located against the wall between the two sets of beds. Another rectangular table with a pair of chairs and a bench is located near the wall opposite the wall where the beds are situated. A wood rack and some storage boxes are located against the back wall. Lootable containers consist of a chest, a barrel, the food prep table, and the storage boxes.

Interior Floor Plan 12[]

Interior Floor Plan 12 is comprised of a single main room. There are two rectangular tables and one circular table in the center of the room with several bedrolls scattered about on the floor. Two fireplaces are located against the back wall with a group of barrels and a wood rack on either side of the left hand fireplace. Lootable containers consist of a single barrel.

Second Floor[]

Interior Floor Plan 13[]

Interior Floor Plan 13 is comprised of a single main room. Two central pillars act to divide the room into a sitting area and a sleeping area. The sitting area is comprised of a fireplace with a pair of bookshelves on either side. A loveseat, an overstuffed chair, and a wooden chair are all arrayed around a small coffee table in front of the fireplace. Two small tables are located against the wall opposite from the one where the stairs exit the floor. The sleeping area is comprised of three double beds and a overstuffed chair. Lootable containers consist of a chest of drawers and the two bookshelves.


Interior Floor Plan 14[]

Interior Floor Plan 14 is comprised of two walls that divide the floor into three separate rooms. The biggest room is the sitting room which is comprised of a central fireplace with a pair of overstuffed chairs arrayed around the front. The stairs exit to the ground floor from the left side of the room. The doorway to the bedroom is in the center of the main wall and a second wall creates a smaller closet-type room adjacent to the bedroom. The only lootable containers consist of a chest of drawers in the sitting room.

Note: One of the generic homes in Central Baldur's Gate has a second smaller lootable chest of drawers in the small closet-type room.


Interior Floor Plan 15[]

Interior Floor Plan 15 is a floor plan comprised of three rooms. The stairs exit onto the floor within a big foyer area that contains a table, a chair, and four storage barrels. A hallway leads past a pair of small rooms situated across from each other. On the right is a bathroom and on the left is a small bedroom that contains a double bed and a nightstand. The hallway ends at a large bedroom that contains four double beds, two nightstands, and a chest.

Lootable containers typically consist of the two nightstands and the chest. Exceptions include:

  • The generic home on the western side of Northeast Baldur's Gate which has seven lootable containers.
  • A generic home in Central Baldur's Gate that has four lootable containers.
  • Two generic homes and Firebead Elvenhair's home in the town of Beregost only have two lootable containers (the right side nightstand is not flagged as a container).


Interior Floor Plan 16[]

Interior Floor Plan 16 is comprised of a three rooms. The stairs exit onto the floor within a central hall that contains a table, a chair, and and a bench. Bedrooms are located on both sides of the hall. To the right is the smaller bedroom which contains two beds with nightstands next to each. A separate bathroom is accessible from the room. To the left is the bigger bedroom that also contains two beds with nightstands next to each. A chest of drawers and a bookshelf round out the furniture in the room.

Lootable containers in all of the homes with this floor plan consist of the two nightstands in the big bedroom along with the chest of drawers, and the bookshelf. For the homes in Baldur's Gate and Mirianne's home in Beregost, both nightstands in the smaller bedroom are also lootable.


Interior Floor Plan 17[]

Interior Floor Plan 17 is comprised of five rooms. The stairs exit into a large foyer area with a pair of matching rugs and padded benches. A large dining room is accessed opposite the foyer and contains a rectangular dining table with eight chairs. Single chairs with small tables (or possibly footrests?) and a bench are arrayed around the room against the walls. Four offices, all the same size, occupy the four corners of the floor. Each contains a central desk with three chairs. Other chairs and smaller tables are located against the walls within the rooms. Doorways provide access between the rooms and the adjacent foyer and dining room.

Lootable containers consist of the four desks only.
