Freeing Yoshimo's Soul is a side-quest in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and its Enhanced Edition.

Acquisition[]

To acquire this side quest, Yoshimo must be in the party when it travels to Brynnlaw in Chapter 4 of Shadows of Amn. Towards the climax of the main quest Escaping the Asylum, the party will be forced to fight and kill Yoshimo, who will explain about his being under a Geas beforehand and beg Gorion's Ward to take his heart to a Temple of Ilmater to have his soul freed should the Bhaalspawn triumph.

Missing[]

If Yoshimo is not brought to Brynnlaw, then this quest will be missed; when the party first returns to the Copper Coronet in Athkatla during Chapter 6, Yoshimo will perish in a scripted event and be unable to be resurrected.

Solving[]

To solve this quest, after killing Yoshimo in Chapter 4, take his heart from his loot-pile. Keep the heart in your inventory until you reach Chapter 6 and are able to return to Athkatla again. Once there, simply go to either of the two temples of Ilmater - the one in the Slums district or the one in Waukeen's Promenade - and speak to the priest there.

Discuss Yoshimo's heart and the priest will take it from your inventory to perform a cleansing rite that will break the Geas, allowing Yoshimo's soul to find peace in the afterlife at last.

Reward[]

You will gain 200,000 Quest EXP for completing this quest.
