A Fledgling Vampire is a previously living being now morphed into an Undead creature who has only recently been converted into a "beginning" vampire form. These creatures can be encountered in Chapter III and in Chapter VI of the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign, in the company of their masters and mistresses in Bodhi's Hideout.

There are four varieties, all being virtually identical except for minor differences. The Fledgling vampires are the 'cannon fodder' placed into the Chapter Three and Six Bodhi confrontations. The Fledglings in chapter 3 Level drain 2 experience levels upon a hit, and 3 experience levels in chapter 6.

also appears in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, in the Vampire Hideout in chapter 10

Game Play[]

These creatures may be struck with normal weapons. They utilize the most common AI script for other in-game vampires, and thus behave in a similar manner as other types. They will fight with their touch attack and attempt Vampire Domination innate ability at available targets in range. When reduced to zero Hit points the creature goes into "Gas Cloud Form" and flees the battlefield. They have a rather low hit point value.

Mod content[]

The Sword Coast Stratagems makes several changes to this creature. The Fledglings are now level 8/8 Fighter/Thief class. Their dexterity is raised to 19 and also have a 16 constitution. This means they have an improved Armor Class and 83 Hit Points. An extra half attack per round is also gained. The creature is also assigned the "Improved Vampires" default AI script. In addition, it now requires +2 enchanted weapons to hit it. For an overview of the mod's "Smarter Vampires" AI and other changes, see the "Mod content" section on the Vampire page.
