Flame of the North is an enchanted purple glowing two handed sword +2, which doesn't give any fire resistance or deals fire damage. Instead it provides a magical resistance of 10% and it deals 1d10 +2 points of slashing damage and additional +4 points of damage against chaotic evil creatures, but can be wielded by evil creatures nonetheless. It has a THAC0 bonus of +2, and a speed factor of 8. This item appears in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It's dropped by one of the four creatures in the Asylum Dungeon who are behind a wall with paintings of dangerous creatures, which require a painting to open them.

Description[]

Two Handed Sword: Flame of the North

The title does not refer to the blade itself, but rather to the woman who originally wielded it in the icy hinterlands of Faerun. Her name was Carerra, and she was a veritable firestorm that swept across arctic trolls and the northern orcish tribes. She was a hated enemy of many a shaman whose magic often floundered against her fury. After a lifetime of raucous battle, it was old age that eventually claimed her. The sword was passed to her granddaughter, an adventurer, who presumably brought it to Amn.
