Disambiguation icon Not to be confused with Firetooth (crossbow).

Firetooth +3 is an enchanted throwing dagger and this item appears in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. It can be obtained from the weapons merchant in Ust Natha, by purchase, or perhaps not so legal means.

Description

Firetooth (dagger)

This throwing knife is imbued with magical fire and was supposedly carved from an extracted red dragon tooth. Tavern tales suggest that the beast is still alive, her anger fueling the enchantment within the weapon. Though fanciful, the story is consistent, and it is said the dagger returns to the thrower "as though on wings."

Gameplay[]

This dagger can be used in melee combat or thrown. The weapon returns to the wielder's hand after each throw. To switch between melee and missile use, right click on the item and select the desired function,

When thrown or used in melee it deals 2d4 +3 points of Missile damage damage and 1d2 points of Fire damage on each successful hit on a target. Note that when used as melee dagger it inflicts Piercing damage rather than missile.

The weapon is a +3 enchanted item for the purposes of what it can strike, but also provides a -3 THAC0 bonus. Like most daggers, it has a fast speed factor of 1 and it only weighs 1 lbs.

The dagger can attack twice per round (both in ranged and melee), which can be further increased by dagger weapon proficiency and class bonuses. Strength modifiers apply to this weapon.

The fire damage is of the non-magical elemental variety, and can't be blocked by Magic resistance or spell Power level protections.

Although the listed range of the thrown dagger is 100', realistically the game line of sight range for a player is less than this. If the wielder can't see the target, it can't throw the dagger at it.
