A Fire Mephit is an extra-planar "outsider" (i.e., linked to various Elemental, Quasi-Elemental and Outer planes of existence). These creatures are similar to Imps, and can be summoned by Mages to do their bidding. The are found in a number of areas during the Baldur's Gate II games.

Gameplay[]

The Fire Mephit needs to get fairly close in order to attack in melee with its claws, or near enough to get within range of its two innate ability attacks. These are Flame Fan and Flame Jet. The creature is scripted to use the fan attack immediately when in range, followed by the Jet two rounds later, and then five rounds after that. In between it will strike twice per round with its claws. A fire mephit will healed by Fire damage, so it isn't concerned by the flame jet accidentally striking any of the allied fire mephits that may be present.

Note: The non familiar fire mephit has the Blur spell in memory, but it won't use it as the script does not employ it.

Notes[]

  • In the game, three Creature Files (MEPFIR01.cre, ELEMEP04.cre and OBSFIR02.cre) are virtually identical. The only differences are, that MEPFIR01 has a 14 Dexterity and is Chaotic Evil in Alignment, while the other two have 18 Dexterity and are True Neutral. Almost all in game fire mephits encountered are the first.
  • In the Enhanced Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition – Shadows of Amn (2013)
This icon indicates content from the Shadows of Amn campaign of the Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.
Game, several more Creature Files named "Fire Mephit" are listed (BDMEPF01.cre, BDMEPHIT.cre, BDMEPSUF.cre, and BPMPFI01.cre, which are for Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear use).
Note:The second InfoBox is provided for the Fire Mephit Familiar - which is unused by the unmodified game. No player will be able to summon this creature, except as provided by Modded content.
