Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition[]

Recruitment[]

You must recruit Hexxat before Chapter 4, if you haven't met her before sailing to Brynnlaw, you miss the chance to recruit her. She can be found in Dragomir's Tomb entered from Athkatla Graveyard after accepting Clara's request in Copper Coronet in Slums.

Gameplay[]

Being a vampire, the only undead companion in game, Hexxat has several special abilities:

  • Blood Drain - Drain the target (animals and regular-sized humanoids only) of 1-4 Constitution, possibly four times (so it can actually cause 0-16 Constitution damage to enemies, depending on rolls and save rolls), and knock him unconscious for 5 rounds (seems to be bugged, as it only applies a sleeping animation to the target for a few seconds and they can simply walk it off, it doesn't apply any actual sleep effect). Saving throw: Save vs. Death (there's actually four different saves with varying bonuses for the target).
  • Children of the Night - Summons 1-4 creatures, depending on her level (at higher levels there's an increased chance of summoning a greater number of creatures within that 1-4 range):
  • Domination (Hexxat) up to 3/day at high levels (1/day initially, 2/day at level 14) - This ability is similar to wizard spell Domination (not the priest version, because elf and half-elf resistance to charm applies to this ability), but casting time is 1, and the target has no option for release, even if made to do something against their moral. The Saving Throw to negate the effect has a -2 penalty. The effect can be reversed only by Dispel Magic.

After joining she will ask Gorion's Ward to keep Dragomir's Respite, a Bag of Holding containing her coffin. When "killed" she takes gaseous form, goes to her coffin and regenerates in a few hours. If dismissed, she waits in the Copper Coronet.

She comes equipped with a non-removable Hexxat's Amulet, which provides 1 HP/round regeneration, immunity to Charm creature, Panic, Berserk, Poison, Sleep, Paralyze, Poison damage, Disease, Level drain and Ability Score Drain not caused by illithids.[1]

Sun damages her however, but the Cloak of Dragomir allows her to travel under the sun, with penalties to her ability scores. She will refuse to use anti-undead items such as Daystar, the Burning Earth, or Protection From Undead.

Biography[]

A striking woman of Chultan descent, Hexxat holds her secrets dear. When pressed, she speaks in vague terms about her mother, a cleric of Ubtao, and the aunts who raised her. Of her life beyond childhood, she says nothing, other than that her immediate assignment was given her by someone known only as L. Discretion is a requirement of Hexxat's profession, and she prides herself on being a consummate professional.

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal[]

As every potential companion, she can be summoned to the pocket plane. If dismissed, she will wait there.

She now joins the party even if Gorions Ward is above a reputation of 18.

Under unknown circumstances (perhaps if not summoned to the pocket plane) she can be found in the Inn in Amkethran, where the sleeping area is.
