Baldur's Gate Wiki

Six of these human-looking Fighters are encountered in the Windspear Hills area engaged in combat with six Gnolls. While it is possible to help the fighters by attacking and killing the gnolls, none of the fighters will engage in any dialogue with the party until every gnoll is killed. And then the six fighters will begin talking amongst themselves, candidly ignoring those party members that may be in visual range.

When the dialogue has ended, the six fighters will all revert to their natural Werewolf form while dropping the equipped Bastard Sword and attack those party members that are in visual range. At this point, the stats for the six fighters become irrelevant and the six Lycanthropes are attacking as regular werewolves.

Gorion's Ward encountering Fighters and Gnolls in the Windspear Hills

Dialogue[]

The dialogue follows a pattern and style typical of that used by Monty Python.

Fighter 1"I did not think we deserved an audience. Dispatching these creatures was well and truly easy."

Fighter 2"Perhaps so, perhaps so, but are we not amazing in combat? Even in these frail and hairless skins?"
Fighter 3"Hairless perhaps, but frail? Perhaps you should speak for yourself."
Fighter 4"Now now, do not fight amongst yourselves. We have plenty to struggle against without turning upon each other."
Fighter 5"Indeed. I readily agree."
Fighter 6"You would. Anything he says is perfectly acceptable to you. We all know where your loyalties lie."
Fighter 5"Oh, just because you are bitter about being too weak to lead, you question everyone that follows as they should."
Fighter 4"I said to stop the bickering. Have I not made myself clear?"
Fighter 3"Indeed. Bad form for a pack to appear as such."
Fighter 2"Are we worried about our appearance when it is no more permanent than the shifting of day or night?"

Fighter 1"Here we go with the philosophical questions again. Can you not just be happy with the hunt? Must you analyze us all?"

1. Gorion's Ward"Uh, excuse me? Are you in need of assistance? I was worried about the gnolls..."
Fighter 2"You should be worried about the gnolls. Desperately stupid canines. No sense of self-worth outside of combat."
Fighter 3"And how would you know? You've never engaged one in anything BUT combat."
Fighter 4"You can see it in their bearing, in the way they hold their tails."
Fighter 5"Oh, you cannot. The only thing in their tails is what they sat in yesterday. Filthy things."
Fighter 6"You are one to talk. Smell yourself in the morning lately?"
Fighter 5"That's it, I'm going to kill him."
Fighter 4"No, you are not! If you must have blood, then take it from these whelps here. They are the kind we are hunting, after all."
Fighter 3"The hunt! I had forgotten. Meat for us all. Pretty clothes for the masquerade. Yes, they are ideal."
Fighter 2"They look about our size, and we do go through so many sets of clothing each night."

Fighter 1"If you would change before you change, you would not have the problem."

2. Gorion's Ward"Stop all the blasted chatter! Can I get a word in edgewise here?!"

or

5. Gorion's Ward"What are you bloody well talking about?"
Fighter 2"Well, that was rude. I'm not sure <HE/SHE> is to my tastes at all."
Fighter 3"Since when are you so picky?"
Fighter 4"He's always been like that. Won't even hunt if he's having a bad fur day."
Fighter 5"He refuses to hunt? That's not his decision; he should follow the will of the pack."
Fighter 6"Like a good little puppy, hmmm?"
Fighter 5"You really tick me off, you know?"
Fighter 6"Yes, actually, I do."
Fighter 5"Oooh, now I've really got to kill something."

All six fighters revert form and turn hostile.

Alternate dialogue tree ---

3. Gorion's Ward"You are all obviously busy. I'll leave you to your hunting. Plenty of gnolls out there."

or

4. Gorion's Ward"Are you quite through? I'll be leaving now."
Fighter 2"No, I'm afraid you won't be going anywhere. I vote we stop playing with the food."
Fighter 3"I do feel a bit peckish."
Fighter 4"Yes, yes, enough with the chatter. "
Fighter 5"Finally."
Fighter 6"I'm not eating a thing you touch."
Fighter 5"You really tick me off, you know...."
