Farsight allows the wizard to temporarily view unexplored areas of the current map.
In Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal two versions of the scroll are sold: 1 for 300 and one for 700 . Both scrolls are in other respects identical.
Description[]

Gameplay[]
The caster applies this spell to self only.
This spell can be used inside buildings, underground, or outdoors.
Upon completion of the spell the player's screen view automatically changes to the "World Map" screen.
Upon the new screen is seen the golden targeting cursor, which can be scrolled/moved to a desired portion of the current area map to be viewed.
Double click on the designated spot on the map, even if it's blacked out by the "fog of war", and the now cleared portion of the map is visible to the caster (and the player of course).
The portion of the map that is visible is similar in area to what would be viewed if the character were actually placed at the exact spot - although they aren't actually there.
Everything visible at that location can be seen in real time, including stationary and moving creatures, as well their allegiances (neutral, hostile etc.)
The Farsight spell doesn't allow another portion of the map to be viewed, and the spell's duration applies only to how long the caster can continue to view that map portion initially selected.
There is various scouting, or preparation uses for this spell that are only limited by the player's use of the information gathered.

Trivia[]
The Advanced D&D 2nd Edition ruleset doesn't have a 4th level Wizard spell called Farsight - the closest spell to it would be Wizard Eye. It appears that Bioware invented and implemented this spell just for the game.
