Fael, also known as Darcin Cole, is ostensibly a merchant operating a stall outside the Imnesvale Inn on the Umar Hills area map during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign.

Identity[]
In reality, he is an agent of the Twisted Rune, and a contact for Rejiek Hidesman as part of a scheme to create a suit of enchanted Leather Armor made from Human Flesh. This is part of a quest.
Quests[]
- Fael is the subject of the unmarked quest Find Rejiek's ally, which is hinted at by the Tanner's Letter.
- Fael issues the quest Finish the leather armor begun by Rejiek Hidesman once the aforementioned quest is completed.
Destroying the Twisted Rune[]
If instead of completing the armor you wish to destroy the Twisted Rune, talk to Fael, buy the "History of the Zhentarim" book from him. When he asks you about your choice of reading material, confront him about his connection to Rejiek Hidesman ("Your business is over! I know of your relationship with the tanner in Athkatla"). This will cause him to leave and go to Imnesvale Inn. Enter the inn and attack him WITHOUT killing him immediately. Some of his allies will appear and the fight will commence. Kill Fael and his allies but be careful not to kill any innocents in the inn (massive reputation loss).
