| “ | Hoy there! You lookin' for the crusade too? | ” |
Ephrik, a human male fighter, has been down on his luck.
His former employer, Sarevok Anchev, was brutally murdered by a band of so-called heroes. Ephrik himself was persecuted for crimes that might as well have been committed by others. Law enforcers rarely understand that even villainy is just a job — something to put food on the table.
Seeking protection, Ephrik turned to his late master's aide Korlasz, who promised to lead her followers safely out of Baldur's Gate. But her plan drew the attention of the Flaming Fist and of Sarevok's killers. Their hideout was stormed; Korlasz and most of her followers were captured and hauled off to hidden dungeons for "interrogation".
Ephrik somehow escaped. But he lost everything. Now he needs money.
Fortunately, the Shining Crusade is hiring — and paying well. Perhaps his fortunes are about to change.
| “ | They say the Shining Lady pays— Hey, I know you. You're <CHARNAME>! You slew Sarevok an' drove Korlasz out of that crypt. You cost me everything! | ” |
Ah. And just like that, he has run into those confounded "heroes" again, this time in the wilderness. Life is truly unfair.
| “ | Ah, I mean... it was just a job, y'know? Not a big deal, I'll find another. Don't want no trouble. I'll leave you to your business if you'll leave me to mine. Awright? | ” |
Gameplay[]
There is very little consequence to this encounter. Mechanically, the 125
and 300 XP he yields are unremarkable. One may slay him out of principle — for his ties to Sarevok or his intention to join the Crusade — but it’s not clear that he truly deserves it.
If allowed to escape, Ephrik is never seen again.
