Gameplay[]
- Beware: If the victim is level-drained below level 1, disintegrated, petrified, or frozen and shattered to death, there’s a good chance the above process will destroy non-plot items they are holding. Disable Gore in game options to avoid this.
- Drains levels only from the active class of the dual class creatures
- Each cast drains 2 (more) levels and the affected victim gets most status, notably HP, APR, spell slots, thieving skills and saving throws reverted to the diminished level; backstab modifier, spent proficiency points plus all learnt abilities and spells remain intact
- While level-drained, all ST modifiers granted by equipment, eg. the Claw of Kazgaroth, cease functioning, all ST adjustments from previously cast spells like Doom, Chant are nullified so you have to cast them again for the effects, even permanent ST bonus such as Edwin’s Nether Scroll are disabled until restored
- The casting time of 3 is very fast for a level 9 spell, and it doesn't have a projectile, meaning that even during a Time Stop it will take effect immediately.

The casting of this spell opens a channel between the caster’s plane and the Negative Energy Plane. The caster of the spell acts as a conduit between the two planes, sucking life from a living creature and transferring it to the Negative Energy Plane, draining him of 4 levels of experience. The target of this spell loses levels, Hit Dice, hit points, and abilities permanently. These levels can only be restored by a priest’s Restoration spell. As the life force passes through the caster, it temporarily invigorates him, granting him an additional 20 hit points, a +4 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws, and +20% bonus to every skill. These effects last for 1 hour. The target’s magic resistance, if any, does not affect this spell.
