This Elemental Lich can be encountered in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal games on the Watcher's Keep Final Seal dungeon, when operating the Globe Machine.
Gameplay[]
After the party presses the purple button on the Globe Machine and receives the fourth Purple Globe - this lich spawns (along with a second lich) over at the eastern side of the chamber.
This undead mage will appear and initially deploy protection buffs, and if damaged in some manner will further protect himself with a contingency.
Afterwards, if able, he will cast spells as noted under the conditions listed in the InfoBox.
This lich is unable to remove buffs or spell protections from the party - use that to advantage.
This lich is immune to Fire damage, can See the invisible, and will be ignored by summoned/gated fiends.
It is curious how the base game's script for this lich applies fire resistance and protection from evil on the creature, who is already immune to fire damage, and cannot be targeted by demons/devils innately.
The lich has a unique touch attack, that can induce a Slay effect - if the saving throw is missed, there is a 6 second delay before death takes hold, during that time the character will render a portrait icon displaying "Dying".
When he is defeated, the lich's corpse remains on the ground, but no loot is discovered.

Mod content[]
This section is about unofficial content that is only available via fan-made mods.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod makes some revisions to this creature.
First, SCS raises the lich's Experience level to 30, and will randomly assign a specialty kit at installation, either Conjurer, Enchanter, Invoker or Necromancer.
The creature's Saving throw scores are adjusted to reflect the higher experience level.
The assigned kit will determine which AI script is used by the lich, and influence available spell choices, prepared Minor Sequencer, Spell Sequencer and Spell Trigger.
Expect a more robust and rapid initial protective buff chain at the start of the encounter, making the lich more difficult to destroy or disrupt at the battle's start.
Numerous AI recognition scripts are used to determine when and how to try and dispel/remove protections from the party using Breach, Remove Magic, Spell Thrust, Khelben's Warding Whip and Ruby Ray of Reversal.
A wide variety of spells are retained by the lich, perhaps including Bigby's Clenched Fist, Bigby's Crushing Hand, and Wish.
The player's selected game difficulty setting and install options may mean this lich will have use of several High-level class abilities, such as Comet, Dragon's Breath (spell) or Energy Blades (wizard), depending on which kit the mage has.
If the Spell Revisions mod or the IWDification mods are installed with SCS, the lich will have some of those mod's spell choices included in lich's spell casting scripts.
