The Den of the Seven Vales, previously called the Seven Veils, is an inn in Athkatla's Waukeen's Promenade in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It is operated by its owner, Patricia. A group of adventurers staying on second floor will attack Gorion's Ward and their party if you respond negatively to Mencar Pebblecrusher provocations.
The inn has two floors. The First floor is comprised of a saloon and a kitchen. It is where Patricia offers rooms for rent and beverages. An Athkatlan City Guardsman seems to be stationed and on duty in the saloon area. A number of commoners and nobles are in the saloon as well. There are numerous pick pocketing opportunities here.
Don't forget to try some different Drinks at the bar (see the menu in the info box). You may get Intoxicated if you sample too many, but the rumors and immersion of various tidbits, scuttlebutt and chit chat can be worth it. So, spend a few golden coins, lubricate your parched throat, and hear the latest unofficial news as well. The more expensive the beverage, the better chance for the rumor quality. Many rumors are actually factual in whole or part.
The sleeping quarters are on the second floor, where Mencar Pebblecrusher's party resides. When you are observed, Mencar will address you and quickly insult your party - and unless you leave, will pick a fight. The dialogue options give you an "out" to avoid a confrontation, should you feel the need. Of course, you could attack without provocation with no reputation jeopardy, but will miss out on much dialogue.
If Korgan Bloodaxe is in your party, it will soon be apparent that he and Mencar have some bad blood from a previous dealing with each other. Neither will back down, and violence is unavoidable, along with various excellent Dwarven insults.
