Note: The quest is given by Delainy for male protagonists and Durlyle for female. Other than the name and some minor differences in dialogue, the quest is identical and where ever this guide refers to Delainy, one can read Durlyle.

Delainy's Task is a side quest during Balduran's Final Voyage, one of the quest arches in the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion.

Summary[]

The historian Delainy has lost an import relic (a cloak) and wishes to have it returned to her. She is afraid of the beasts outside the walls of the village.

Walk-through[]

Delainy has quite an extensive dialogue and reacts differently depending on your tone towards her. You can show interest, but don't be too formal. You may not have the answers available that you need - the dialogue has many reaction checks. When navigating the dialogue correctly and with enough reaction – you will get the task.

The polite way is the only way to question the historian about the island, it's inhabitants and themselves. It opens up the follow up quest:

GUILSOP00009Delainy's Task
I have met the village historian, a woman by the name of Delainy. She seemed rather nice, actually. I agreed to help her with a small problem she is having. It seems that an important relic of her village, a cloak, blew away from the chieftain's hut during a recent storm. It is probably outside the village walls, so I shall have to watch out for the "beasts" that the locals keep mentioning. Perhaps I should ask Delainy to tell me more about her people when I get back... I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

A more "pressed for time" avenue, that does not allow you to question the historian:

I have met the village historian, a woman by the name of Delainy. I found her company tedious, but I have agreed to help her with a small problem she is having. It seems that an important relic of her village, a cloak, blew away from the chieftain's hut during a recent storm. It is probably outside the village walls, so I shall have to watch out for the "beasts" that the locals keep mentioning.

The Holy Cloak found its way to Dradeel and he stored it in a chest in his cabin.

Return the cloak and if you have the option proceed with the follow up.

Notes[]

  • The quest is not marked as finished. Instead, when you complete the follow up task, all entries pertaining to this quest will be deleted and the follow up task is marked as finished.

Trivia[]

  • Delainy keeps track of your politeness by marking the protagonist as as a "sweety" or "big jerk".[1]
