Death Fog creates a toxic fog of acid, damaging any creature caught in it, subject to their resistances and immunities. Summons will be instantly slain - this can not be prevented by magic resistance or Death Ward.
Effects[]
“ | The casting of a Death Fog spell creates an area of solid fog that has the additional property of being highly acidic. All animal life not immune to acid suffers 8 points of damage for each round they are exposed to the vapors of the Death Fog. Death Fog will also instantly kill all summoned creatures, regardless of their Hit Dice and immunities. | ” |
The description is misleading and "animal" life is not a limitation applied to the spell.
This spell is not party-friendly, it will destroy your own summons (unlike Death Spell) and damage your own party.
Summoned demons, devas and planetars are gated/plane shifted and don't count as summons, thus they don't get destroyed from this spell and simply take the normal damage. Familiars are also not destroyed.
The fog can be dispersed with the Zone of Sweet Air spell.
