Dealing with the Trademeet genies is a side quest which can be started in Trademeet. Completing this quest makes the genies leave to the delight of the various shop owners.

, it is possible to pick pocket Ihtafeer's head during the quest to deal with the Animal trouble in Trademeet, prior to talking to the genies. In this case, upon first speaking to Khan Zahraa with Ihtafeer's head in inventory, the party is granted 10,000 XP and a Scimitar +2 "Rashad's Talon" as rewards, after which, the genies pack up shop and leave town, also leaving the party short of the full experience of the quest, and not allowing a chance for the party to peruse Khan Zahraa's wares.

Acquisition[]

This quest can be started independently of the Animal trouble in Trademeet. High Merchant Logan Coprith will ask your help in dealing with the "genie problem" in Trademeet. They are cornering the market and no other vendor is allowed to make any sales. He directs you to Guildmistress Busya for specifics. You can still talk with the Dao Djinn without speaking with the Mayor and the Guild Mistress, but it makes sense to not do that from a background information standpoint.

Walkthrough[]

  • Talk to Guildmistress Busya in the Mayor's house. She will ask you to speak with the Dao djinns just outside the city.
  • Go to the blue Dao tent just outside the southeast gate of Trademeet and speak to Khan Zahraa, the leader of the genies. Taquee, the Dao outside the tent, carries the precious Efreeti Bottle, which can be pick-pocketed.
    • If you kill Zahraa, you get "Rashad's Talon" Scimitar +2 and 5000 xp (and the other two genies are also worth 5000 xp each). In fact, killing all three genies (which doesn't prevent you from attacking Ihtafeer later), is worth 15000 xp, while handing Ihtafeer's head to Zahraa is only worth 10000 xp. There is also no reputation penalty for killing the genies and you get the same xp, gold and item reward from the guildmistress later.
    • if you protest against the actions of the genies and then tell him you are not doing anything to change it, you get a cursed ring as a reward of your 'boldness'.
    • or, you can do his task and hunt down the Rakshasa, Ihtafeer.
  • If you agree to hunt down Ihtafeer, go to the northeast corner of the area and talk with Itona, a Shadow Thief (optional). She believes that the rakshasa killed Adratha, the potion seller at the Druid Grove area, and has taken her form. Itona carries the Gloves of Missile Snaring, which cannot be pick-pocketed (they are only dropped if you kill Itona).
  • Leave the town and go to the Druid Grove.
  • Enter Adratha's Cottage in the northeast corner of the area.
  • If you talked to the Dao djinnis Ihtafeer (disguised as Adratha) will recognize their smell on you and attack, but if you didn't talk to them she will open her potion shop for you.
  • Defeat Ihtafeer and take her head.
  • Return to Trademeet and give the head to Khan Zahraa. He will reward you with his sword, Rashad's Talon, the party receives 10,000 XP, and Zahrra leaves with the other djinn. (Note: if you have not already done so, you no longer have an opportunity to steal the Efreeti Bottle from Taquee.)
  • Report your success to Guildmistress Busya and she will reward the party with:
  • Then talk to Lord Logan Copirth. If you have dealt with both the Druids and the Genies, the Town will sculpt you another reward, in addition to:
    • Reputation +1
    • 25,250 Quest XP each party member
    • 10,750gp

Foutain statues in Trademeet

If any member is polymorphed during the celebratory ceremony, then their sculpture at the fountain will show them in this form. This works with the wizard spell Polymorph Self, as well as with the druidic ability of shapeshifting. The statue, however, isn't rendered with stony skin, but uses the polymorph creature's usual hide or skin. Additionally, if Wilson is in the party his 'statue' just looks like him, no 'petrified' color palette.

Installing Afaaq the Djinni Companion mod will begin after you defeat the various Rakshasa and Ihtafeer. A teleportation portal will appear on the upper platform inside the cottage. Enter the portal to begin the new quests and adventures offered in the Mod, and potentially gain a seventh party member.
