Days of Wine and Stealing is a Siege of Dragonspear side quest that is given by Irina in the kitchen of the Elfsong Tavern. She has run out of Ruby Wine and fears it will lead to the ruination of the tavern. She will recognize the Hero of Baldur's Gate and ask to steal a barrel from the cellars of the Ducal Palace, as Duke Belt keeps a supply on hand there.

In the conversation you can voice your concern about stealing from the Grand Dukes and Irina will offer to give you 50 gold to leave as a replacement for the barrel. She will then describe the smell of the wine which you can find in the cellar of the Ducal Palace, along with the dungeon where a doppelganger and Sarevok's minion have been imprisoned if she surrendered and wasn't killed in the crypt. Interact with the Wine Barrels to find the right one. You can then steal the barrel, even if you were given the gold to "buy" it, or you can leave the 50 
in it's place. Returning to Irina finishes the quest.
More options[]
- Wizards and druids have the option to transmute a Standard Barrel of wine into a Barrel of Ruby Wine meaning you don't have to run back and forth to complete the quest. If this will be successful, though, depends on the character's prime ability score which should be at least sixteen, else the long way has to be taken (perhaps after some unexpected consequences).
- Dwarves can offer a terrific alternative to the ruby wine.
