Baldur's Gate Wiki

Cyrdemac is a human fighter who is found on the second floor of the Elfsong Tavern which is located in East Baldur's Gate. He is a man whom a noblewoman named Areana wants to have killed so that he won't tell anyone about their meeting in the Undercellar. If Gorion's Ward asks him to stop bothering the noblewoman, he will attack. If you tell him you want to smuggle some items into the city of Waterdeep, he'll invite you to a side room where a couple of his ruffian friends are hanging out. However, all further dialogue leads to fighting, with the ruffians joining the battle. They'll also turn hostile if you confront Cyrdemac where he is standing.

You may also charm him; he'll confess his deeds, then suggest you fake his death and blackmail Areana for money (which is a possible route with or without hearing his suggestion). This can be attempted before or after you've spoken with Areana.

Note: If you charm Cyrdemac, he'll leave the area and disappear after ten seconds, which isn't enough time for the spell to wear off and have him turn hostile. But if you move him away from his current spot, say to one of the many side rooms located throughout the floor, he won't leave and instead turn hostile once the spell wears off. However, his two ruffian friends will not turn hostile, even if a hostile Cyrdemac comes into their sight.

Dialogue[]

If charmed:

My name is Cyrdemac. At the moment I am blackmailing a woman named Areana. She had a tryst in the Undercellar that she does not want to be public knowledge. You know what I suggest friend? Why don't you go back to Areana, tell her that I'm dead, and then blackmail her with the threat of revealing her murderous inclinations? I'll be alive, and you'll have gold. We'll both win.
