Disambiguation icon This page is about an innate ability. For the priest spell, see Cure Light Wounds (spell).

Cure Light Wounds is an ability that Gorion's Ward may gain during the Baldur's Gate campaign. It is identical to the 1st level priest spell of the same name, except that it has a faster casting time and is not subject to silence (as it is not a spell).

It can be gained during dream sequence 1 and 2 if the party's reputation is 10 or greater; if it is less, then the protagonist will gain Larloch's Minor Drain instead.

When a new protagonist is created in Shadows of Amn, this ability will be granted to them based on their alignment:

  • 2× Cure Light Wounds: Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, and True Neutral;
  • 1× Cure Light Wounds: Lawful Neutral;
  • Other alignments gain no uses of this ability.

Effects[]

By casting this spell and laying [their] hand upon a creature, the priest causes 8 points of wound or other injury damage to the creature's body to be healed. This healing cannot affect creatures without corporeal bodies, nor can it cure wounds of creatures not living or of extraplanar origin.

Curing is permanent only insofar as the creature does not sustain further damage; caused wounds will heal—or can be cured—just as any normal injury.

Gameplay[]

  • Despite the description, this ability will heal any creature, even undead.
  • This ability also cures intoxication, despite its absence from the description.

Bugs[]

  • The ability description (EE only) lists the casting time as 5; it is actually 1.
