Baldur's Gate Wiki

The Crooked Crane Inn is an inn in the Athkatla City Gates district during the Shadows of Amn campaign. This Inn offers a 'bare minimal" services selection, with reduced prices and no-frills attitude. Cheap and cheerful.

The only rooms in the inn you can sleep in are stables, so you can only rent a peasant accommodations room.

Try the various beverages offered by the Inn. Generally, the more expensive the quality of drink, the greater chance of an interesting rumor or two being heard. Too many drinks in one session can lead to being Intoxicated status. If you overindulge, you may sleep it off, of course. Although unconfirmed, it is said that twenty pints of Luiren's Best Ale will fortify your mind against all fear effects emanating from the horrors of the Undead.

Try your luck at the gambling games if you have the mod discussed below installed.

The first time you enter, you will overhear a patron talking about lovers on the second floor. If you go to the second floor you can either ignore Tiiro and Aulava, tell them to follow their family's wishes and break up or you can tell them they should follow their own hearts. Beware, if you encourage Tiiro's and Aulava's relationship, you are going to lose one reputation point when you visit the inn in the future - Rilmi will tell you that the couple has gone crazy and started setting buildings on fire.

Mods[]

Installation of the Tower of Deception mod begins in the Inn on the first-floor bar area. Speak with a green garbed Mage to initiate the quest.

Installation of the Unfinished Business (Baldur's Gate II) mod - "Crooked Crane Restorations" will add two restored NPCs who run gambling games to the Crooked Crane Inn, as well as cause a follow-up to the Aulava and Tiiro minor encounter. The gambling games are accessed by speaking with "Andrew of the Dice" and "Carmine of the Wheel". These two characters are included in the game files, but were removed from gameplay upon release, for unknown reasons.

Note: Trivia, in that Andrew of the Dice refers to the comedian "Andrew Dice Clay", and the PPE mod portrait is also a rendition of the entertainer circa 2000.

Installation of the Unfinished Business (Baldur's Gate II) mod and the Kalah & What He Was Promised component takes place on the second floor of the Inn.

Installation of Loron's Return (Ajoc's minimod restored) will utilize the Inn for some of the quest content, including a required contact meeting.
