A Cornugon is a type of demonic monster that is encountered in the Siege of Dragonspear, Watcher's Keep and The Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay.

Gameplay[]

The beast is immune to backstab, detects invisible creatures and will open with a 3 minute Demon Fear on the closest party member under certain conditions[1]. It can only be struck by +2 or greater enchanted weapons, regenerates 2 hit points per round and is protected from critical hits.

The Cornugon's melee attack strikes as a +3 enchanted weapon with a range of 1 and a speed of 0. It deals 1d6 slashing damage (plus strength bonus) and injects a poison effect that does 1 poison damage per second for 10 seconds with no magic resistance or saving throw possible. Multiple hits combine for additive poison damage.

BG2EE: It also causes a stun effect on hit with a save vs Breath to negate, the duration is 10 seconds. This effect bypasses magic resistance.

The Demon Fear effect is unaffected by spell level protections and magic resistance although save vs. Spell negates. If the saving throw is failed, the duration of the Panic will last 12 seconds. This effect is an aura surrounding the creature in a 30' diameter circle.
