Cordyr and the Sirines is a side quest, obtainable during Chapter Five of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition by parties whose reputation isn't firmly set as "heroic".
Acquisition[]
Entering Cordyr's Home in south Baldur's Gate and talking to him while the party's reputation is below fifteen, will let Cordyr tell his story of some sirines who tried to move into his fishing grounds and sank his boat. Due to his mixed feelings about such beautiful creatures, Cordyr actually doesn't give any task – he only tells of a nuisance.
“ | A fisherman named Cordyr tells of a pair of sirines in his fishing grounds, near where the Cloud Peaks meet the sea. | ” |

Walkthrough[]
Cordyr's fishing grounds are located to the south of Baldur's Gate, down the Sword Coast, near an abandoned lighthouse at the shore of the northern peninsula; the cave of Black Alaric can be found here, too.
When approaching the beach and the cave, not only a "pair of" sirines will be encountered: a third one, Sil, lays claim to the area as home for her tribe and does not allow trespassing. They will attack the party.
Speaking again to Cordyr after Sil's death, he will reward the deed – still with mixed feelings, and admitting that he did not believe the party would survive this.
Reward[]
The actual reward, given by Cordyr, depends again on the party's reputation when turning the quest in and on the game's edition:
- Reputation 8 or above
|
|
- Reputation 7 or below
|
|
- Journal
“ | Glad that I dealt with the sirines encroaching on Cordyr's fishing grounds, the fisherman rewarded me with a magic scroll. | ” |
— Journal |
Notes[]
- The spell scroll not rewarded can be pickpocketed from Cordyr. In fact, both scrolls can be obtained this way, even if the quest is not solved.
