The caster uses Conjure Animals spell to summon forth nature's massive mountain bear, who will obey the caster's commands.
Description[]
“ | This spell allows the caster to summon forth and control 1 or 2 massive mountain bears. The bears will respond to the caster's every whim for the duration of the spell. | ” |
Gameplay[]
The caster selects a spot on the area map where the Mountain bear will appear and designates it by clicking/selecting the spot with the targeting cursor.
When the spell cast is finished, the bear(s) appear at the designated spot with a rendered summoning graphic taking a few seconds.
The animals will now be available to receive commands from the caster and are classified as "controlled" creatures.
If no orders are given, the summoned help will perform actions according to their very basic AI script.
These beasts are subject to the "summoned creature" limit of 5 per area map - if there are already five such entities present on the map, then this spell will not succeed in bringing on any more.
A summoned animal cannot explore and pierce the "fog of war" - nor can they transition to another area map.
Summoned creatures are instantly destroyed by a Death Spell, or if they are within the area of effect of a Death Fog.
An animal slain in combat will leave a corpse on the map, but if the spell expires, they are "unsummoned" and disappear instead.

Trivia[]
The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition spell Conjure Animals enables the priest to magically create one or more mammals to attack his opponents. The total Hit Dice of the mammals cannot exceed twice his level, if the creature conjured is determined randomly.
If a specific animal type is requested, the animal's Hit Dice cannot exceed his level. The DM selects the type of animal that appears if it is randomly called (there is a Conjured Animals Table that can be used for this).
The PnP spell version has a rather short duration of 2/rounds per caster level, compared to the 4-turn fixed period in the BG video game version, which also limits the conjured creature choice to 1-2 mountain bears only.
