Club of Detonation is an unique Club +3 which was added in Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal but obtainable in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn as well. It is dropped (but not used) by the Aurumach Rilmani on the fifth floor of Watcher's Keep. It has a multitude of unique characteristics, including +3 fire damage every time it hits its target, a 20% chance it will deal an additional +10 fire damage, and a 7% chance a Fireball is detonated by the weapon dealing 5d6 damage, or half that with a successful Save vs. Spell. However - unlike a normal enchanted club - it has no bonus to speed factor. The weapon can be upgraded by Cespenar which requires a Ring of Fire Resistance and some gold.

Description[]

This crude wooden club burns with the raging spirit of the demon forever trapped within by the powerful enchantments placed on the weapon. Occasionally, however, the demon's wrath escapes in a fiery blast.

Upgrade[]

The upgraded Club of Detonation is a unique Club +5 with further improved unique effects. It now inflicts +5 fire damage every time it hits its target with a 30% chance it will deal an additional +15 fire damage, and has a 5% chance to create a Fireball explosion dealing 10d6 fire damage with a save vs. spell for half. It is also 2 lbs lighter than before, but its speed factor remains on par with a non-magical club.

Description[]

The enchantments from the Ring of Fire resistance makes the demon spirit trapped within this weapon easier to control - though the wrath of the creature may occasionally still be released without warning.

Notes[]

  • Club of Detonation is one of the very few weapons with the same Speed Factor before and after upgrade.
