Cloak of Protection +1 item appears in Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition.
Description[]
“ | This simple cloak has been imbued with some small magical properties to help protect its wearer. It does so by affecting both saving throws and armor class. It is ideal for mages and others who cannot wear bulkier or more restrictive types of armor. | ” |
Gameplay[]
When equipped the cloak confers the wearer with a 1-point bonus to general Armor Class value, as well as a 1-point bonus to all Saving throw values.
This cloak is coded so that it cannot be equipped simultaneously with another similar item, such as Ring of the Princes, The Protector, and certain magical armor.
These similar protection item restrictions are a carryover from the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition rules. not a game developer notion.

Trivia[]
The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition ruleset describes the Cloak of Protection in detail within the Dungeon Master's Guide.
The PnP cloak versions are varied, and some of them confer bonuses to armor class as great as +5. The BG video game cloak versions did take some of the restrictions and abilities from the rules, but also didn't fully implement several other variants of these cloaks.
